The 2.15 at Uttoxeter looks an open race on paper but I’m
not too convinced that it is. There are a few obvious types which will attract
market support but I’m drawn to ESPRIT
DE BAILEYS for the red hot combination of Amy Murphy and Jack Quinlan. Jack
has been riding brilliantly of late and I think he has a chance of notching
another winner on the board here. Esprit De Baileys’ hurdles form is pretty
strong and a good deal better than anything I have seen here. A recent spin on
the flat would have put him spot on and I think he offers real each way value
at 6/1.
Following
Alan King’s Aweedram proved fruitful last season and I hope following
stablemate ALARGEDRAM will prove
just as fruitful. There is no doubt he showed clear potential in three starts
last term over a trip too short and with Oisin Murphy booked for his
reappearance I suspect he will prove to be well handicapped. Being by Lope De
Vega, he should excel over this sort of trip, maybe even further, but the stiff
finish here at Sandown will certainly play to his strengths and if tuned up,
which you hope would be, he should be bang there at the finish.
